ryan hall guard concepts

Some of my notes from watching this –>

Right foot on hip
Don’t over push or force it
Stand on them and keep connection
Want to be able to shut them out completely

3 layers of guard
Soles of feet
Knees and palms

Wall – solid structure, weight goes into mat
Always making an effective and efficient wall
E.g. from the soles of feet, your knees reinforced with your straight arms, into the mat
Or straight spine

Wall frustrates opponent and makes them over commit weight to try and crush it, leaving them open for sweeps and subs.
Once wall is solid you can remove part of it to trap opponent

Don’t over extend leg or lose connection with them

Kimura, keeping arm well controlled and isolated
