1st Irish Juvenille BJJ Comp

These guys are the future 🙂

A huge thank you from the organisers, Kyuzo Gym, and Team Ryano, for the support of Ireland’s first ever underage only BJJ tournament. Here are some thanks. We are definitely going to forget someone here, so if you helped at all, thank you! All of our staff today were volunteers, giving up their Sunday (and for some, days in advance) to help the tournament run.
Thanks to our referees Andy Ryan, Darren Lewins, and Tom Dargle. To our table staff Adam Kearney, Paul McIntyre, Jessica Ryan, Amanda English, and Grant Carroll. To the clubs who supported, BJJ Revolution (north and south of the border), Arena, Kyuzo, SBG, Next Generation, Primal, East Coast, Morcegao, Tuatha De Dannan. Thanks also to all of the parents, many of whom traveled great distances to support their child. Of course, thank you to the great and very sporting children and teenagers who came along to compete. You were all amazing! I would also like to thank Steven Rice of Drogheda BJJ whose idea it was to raise the funds for our nominated charity.
We had 155 competitors today, making this not only the largest ever children’s tournament, but also one of the largest tournaments of the past year. I am very pleased to announce that the event raised approximately 2,500euro for our nominated charity,Temple Street Children’s Hospital. This is an incredible amount well in excess of our expectations.
We hope to return with another children’s tournament later in 2014, and then again for this event in 2015.
